01What we believe
A store is only as strong as the experience it gives its customers.
- Why the customer.Every store rises or falls on one thing: whether a customer leaves happy and comes back. Everything we build starts there.
- Why experience.A price can be matched online in a click. The feeling of being served well in a store cannot. Experience is what brings people through the door, and back again.
- Why retail stores.India shops in its neighbourhood stores, run by families who know their customers by name. They deserve the same tools as the largest brands in the world.
- Why AI and hardware.A store is a physical place. AI that helps there has to live on the shop floor, in a kiosk or a mirror, where the customer actually stands.
- How it grows revenue. When customers can see the result before they buy, they decide faster, buy with confidence and return less. A better experience becomes more sales for the store.
- How we help the oldest stores. We never ask a store to change who it is. We give India's oldest shops the newest technology, so the trust they built over generations keeps growing.
02Our story
We grew up behind the counter of a fabric store.
Our family runs fabric stores in Gaya, Bihar. Every day we watched the same moment: a customer holds an unstitched cloth against their shoulder, looks in the mirror and tries to imagine the finished outfit. Most cannot. Some walk away. Some buy and later wish they had chosen differently.
Indian retail runs on trust between a shopkeeper and a customer. Yet most technology is built for large chains and online stores, not for the millions of family shops that dress the country. We started Retail AI to build for them, beginning with the one we know best.
03What we are building
Pehnawa (पहनावा)
An AI try-on kiosk for fabric stores. Shoppers see an unstitched cloth as a finished outfit on themselves, before a single cut is made.
